b*daily :: we celebrated with pie and painting

Friday was Intern Laura’s last day. I can hardly believe how quickly the months flew by. She logged 160+ hours here at b*spoke studio, and I kept her busy with a huge variety of projects. In between which, we talked about food, movies, music, life, faith and design. We frequently laughed ’till we cried (literally), and we may have been known to watch hilarious YouTube videos on a regular basis and practice difficult yoga poses to relieve our stress. We also ate pie. In fact, once we walked to the grocery store and bought an entire pie to share (we only ate half, really). So it was fitting that on our last day, Laura showed up with a pie. We had a busy, productive morning, then I took her out for lunch and we wrapped up our afternoon with said pie, plus some painting.

Remember when I posted the wrap-up of the studio project? I mentioned that I wanted to add some interest to a certain dormer. Laura had a brilliant idea, and I promised that we’d execute on it before the end of her internship. It’s no secret that I love woodgrain (see background of this blog), and all things birch. Adding a hand-painted, very graphic stand of birches to the wall seemed like the perfect thing to help finish off the studio.

We used ceiling paint that I had on hand, and painted in a quick sketch that I did on the walls. The hardest part was getting the little notches to look sharp and clean. The end result, though? I love it. Now all I need to do to finish up the studio is tear out the carpeting, find a cool rug, and maybe add some window treatments.

before ——————————————–> after!

On this Monday morning, I’m enjoying this new addition to the studio, and also feeling a little bittersweet about the conclusion of Laura’s internship. The bitter part because it’s over. The sweet part because I have a great new friend, and because there’s a pretty good chance that she’ll be back at the studio to work on projects as needed. Every cloud has a silver lining, right?? All for now friends… I’ll be back tomorrow with a few snaps from my weekend!

Bethany, you are greatest. This post just made my entire week! What a perfect last day filled with pizza, pie, and painting! I actually just had my final meeting with Printy this morning and I was telling him all about Friday and how much I loved my experience at b*spoke. This Wednesday and Friday will not be the same without you, Emmy, Mini, and of course, Mat Kearney and Taylor Swift.
Anyway, the birch trees look absolutely perfect in your studio. I’m so glad we were able to fit that last project in right at the very end!

      Love you my dear!

PERFECT! I loove love love love the birch trees in the corner! YAY for the amazing Laura….so loving the studio! :)

      before it looked better!

      Love those!

I painted birch trees on my living room wall and I love them :)

I love that! I want to paint stripes (nothing creative about that) but the idea scares me. I’m afraid to start for fear of messing it up. You and Laura just inspired me to do it!

i have hidden your word in my heart

Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning--yes, more than those who watch for the morning.Psalm 130:1-6
