guest posting {lovely lemon yellow soiree}

Hello my lovely readers! Happy Monday, and I hope that you all enjoyed a wonderful weekend. I had a crazy/fun/exhausting weekend myself, and am absolutely over the moon about the results of the past couple days. I’d love to give you more details on this, but you’ll have to be patient a little while longer. In the meantime, I’m thrilled to be bringing you a guest post from none other than Mrs. Limestone of the famous Brooklyn Limestone. I could not be more honored to have her. Of course I just adore Mrs. L’s gorgeous Brooklyn home, her sense of style, and her wonderful blog where she shares her travels, projects and more. Today she is giving us a glimpse at a stylish and beautiful get-together she threw for friends. Now, without further ado, I give you Mrs. Limestone and a post about her lovely lemon yellow soiree.

Thanks Bethany for asking me to contribute to b*spoke. I’m an avid follower and was honored she asked me to join in on the fun. Today I’m sharing a peek into a party I threw a while ago.

I had offered to host a little afternoon get together for some friends coming in from out of town. I wanted to do something special but I was short on time and didn’t want to spend a fortune. Using lemons in the decor was sort of lingering in the back of my mind so I decided to dust it off and use it full force.

The first thing I did was go to a food wholesaler and buy a case of lemons. Score! (So much cheaper than buying them at the supermarket by the pound)

A friend let me borrow these yellow candlesticks and oversized footed jars which helped make it super easy to dress up living room and kitchen.

I picked up some yellow roses at the deli to make one special arrangement for the coffee table. I guess kitty doesn’t approve.

I made some rum spiked lemonade along with yellow cocktail umbrellas. (Thank you Martha)

It was surprisingly easy to keep the yellow theme going. I didn’t realize how many little things are yellow – like cheese.

I broke out my beehive cake mold to serve a lemon honey dessert. It was my first attempt at making a cake from scratch but it was really very yummy. I admit, I cheated on the frosting and used Duncan Hines.

While I probably won’t get to use the all out lemon theme again, it was a really easy one to decorate with and the bright yellow really went a long way. Not quite as good as having loads of flowers but a lot easier and cheaper so it was worth the trade off.

Hope you’ve enjoyed the invite to the party and I’ve given you some ideas for your own soirees.

I don’t know about you, but I am just absolutely smitten with this simple and sweet afternoon party. Thank you so much for sharing it with us, Mrs. Limestone!

    I LOVE those candle holders. And that cake is super adorable. You did a great job. The lemony yellow makes me think of spring, which is much needed for me right now!
