In My Closet {Cozy Autumn Knits}
We’ve had a long stretch of chilly weather, which has put me in the mood for cozy sweaters and comfy knits. This month’s look is true to my love of neutral colors and casual fabrics. I love the idea of soft cableknit tights with a denim skirt and a warm sweater. Top it off with a cute hat, a wool and leather handbag and a pair of adorable leather flats.

Trentino Cabin Cardigan by J.Crew ($138) | Cableknit Beanie by Gap ($19.50) | Recherche´ Bag by Sundance ($98) | Cableknit Tights by American Eagle ($12.50) | Distressed Denim Skirt by Old Navy ($15) | Maddox Flat by Fossil ($68)
Inspired Palette {Berry Goodness}

Perhaps it’s the excessive number of gray days we’ve had in the past few weeks, but lately I’ve really been dreaming about the warm, long days of summer. Oh, the joys of lazy afternoons on the boat, flip-flops, golden brown skin, veggies from the garden and an abundance of fresh fruit at the farmer’s market.
I was looking through old photos and happened upon this shot from a trip the hubby and I took to the North Carolina in July of 2007. While driving from Norfolk, Virginia to the Outer Banks, we stopped at a roadside stand that was just bursting with ripe, delicious fruit. We bought a couple trays and spent the rest of the drive eating our purchases and trying to hide our berry-stained fingers.
To me this palette has the right balance of playfulness, with a touch of dark plum to keep it grown up and slightly moody. Perfect for a teen’s bedroom or maybe a fun, alternative wedding!
Emmy Love {Curious Em}

Yesterday I took Emmy for a walk on the trail near our house. It was a perfect afternoon… bright, warm and sunny. I brought along my camera in hopes of capturing some shots of the fall color. We walked; Emmy sniffed, and I snapped away. She made sure to inspect EVERYTHING while I was busy with the camera.
These pictures brought a smile to my face today. What’s bringing a little ray of sunshine to your world on this lovely Wednesday?
Pieces of Life {Love Notes}

Can I just take a minute here to be a little, well, sappy? I have to say that I am truly blessed by the man who is my husband. He has been my best friend for 9 years, and to this day he is still deeply and passionately in love with me. He is purely, simply and truly a man of character and integrity, and words don’t do justice the miracle that is our marriage. We have a partnership that is rare these days. One that is seasoned with a healthy share of debate and conflict, but also richly and beautiful founded in shared faith and friendship. We are committed to each other, for life, till death due us part. In the moments when I am at my weakest, and most irrational state, I have a man who will hug me, hold me, laugh at me, and tell me it’s alright. When I’m sick, he runs to the store for popsicles, takes my temperature and holds my hand. When I’m thirsty at night, he gets up, without grumbling, and brings a glass of water. When I’m giddy, he dances with me. And when the day is done, he kisses me goodnight and holds me close. Often, when I come home from work, just as he is leaving for work, I find a note waiting for me… written on a neon colored post-it note, and stuck to the mirror in the bathroom, on my pillow, or near my computer… just a reminder of his love. Words don’t express how grateful to God I am for this man!
Now, I want to encourage you, whether you are a wife, a daughter, a mother, a sister or a friend… cherish the relationships in your life. Never take them for granted, and don’t forget to write little love notes!
Design Studio {Sneak Peek}
First of all, thanks to those who commented on my post on Friday. It’s encouraging to hear even just a little bit of feedback as I share my thoughts with you, my readers. I really appreciate your thoughtful words!
Today I am super excited to share with you just a tiny sneak peek of what’s to come next week. Emmy Lu Design Studio is on the brink of launching a huge new collection of Baby, Holiday, Party and Personal Stationery designs. We have teamed up with some very talented designers to put together these new styles. Not only do we have new styles, but most of our sample designs feature the amazing photography of Emily Steffen… which is fantastic because Emily is a dear friend, an incredible person, and a super talented photographer. I am sooo pumped that we get to work together in this small way. I will be featuring some of Emily’s work in a special blog post next week, so stay tuned. Actually, next week is going to be pretty special all around… I’ll be introducing our new designers, as well as sharing some behind the scenes stuff about the Design Studio, and giving you a preview of what’s coming later on this year. Oh, and of course all the new products will be launched next week on our site. Needless to say, I’m pretty excited! Okay, enough talking… here’s what you really want to see. A glimpse at what we’ve been up to these past few months!
